Legislator Bosworth Presents Tori Branch with the Hoops on the Hill Bright Light Award
Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) attended the fourth annual Hoops on the Hill awards ceremony held last month at the Manhasset/Great Neck EOC Hagedorn Community Center. Legislator Bosworth had the honor of presenting the second annual “Bright Light” award to Tori Branch, a dedicated student who is working hard to realize her full potential.
Legislator Bosworth said, “I was honored to present the “Bright Light” award to Tori. She is being acknowledged for her hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to the Hoops on the Hills program. Her success serves as an inspiring example of what can be accomplished while working in a supportive environment with good friends and mentors.”
Hoops on the Hill provides opportunities to youth from the neighboring communities of Manhasset and Great Neck to realize their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. The program came into existence as a result of a small community group project of Manhasset’s Shelter Rock Church to provide weekly basketball instruction to boys and girls 5-18 years of age. As more and more children participated in the program, Hoops on the Hill has responded to needs beyond basketball and serves as a “bridge between High Street and Plandome Road.”
