Free Mammograms for Uninsured Women
Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) will host the Nassau University Medical Center's Mammography Van on August 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. The van will provide free mammograms for uninsured women and will be parked at Clark Gardens, 193 I.U. Willets Road, Albertson, Appointments must be made in advance by calling (516) 571-6211.
“Early detection can save your life,” Legislator Wink said. “I encourage everyone to get a mammogram.”
All women 40 years of age and older, without health insurance coverage, who have not had a mammogram in the past year will receive a free mammogram without any out-of-pocket expense.
Women with insurance are required to pay the co-pay at the time of the appointment.
Remember to bring:
• Your prior film(s) (if you had a prior mammogram)
• A picture ID
• A referral from your doctor, if available (and you have an HMO)
• A prescription from your doctor
