Legislator Wink Congratulates Jamie Mazzei, Champion Of Hope Award Recipient

Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) showed her support for Jamie Mazzei, son of nuBest salon and spa owner Michael Mazzei presenting Jamie with a County Citation. Jamie was given the Champion of Hope Award by Martin Luther King III, son of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on behalf of Realizing the Dream, Inc. He was honored for his efforts to help a child from Uganda, Africa.

Legislator Wink said, “I congratulate Jamie on receiving the Champion of Hope Award. It is my privilege to honor a man who is dedicated to helping children like Jonathan Olunga, a child in need of heart surgery. Jamie’s actions serve as a reminder to all of us that we must take the time to reach out to those in need and those less fortunate than ourselves.”

Jamie went to Africa this past September returning to the U.S. with Jonathan Olunga, who became Gift of Life International’s (an organization providing life-saving heart surgery to children around the world) Miracle Child. Jamie was instrumental in Jonathan’s recovery back to health, is dedicated to continuing to help Jonathan and his family, and hopes to help other children in the future.
