Legislator Wink Honors Golden Girls of Port High School Crew
On June 6, 2011, Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) took great pride in congratulating the Port Washington High School women’s crew team on an absolutely spectacular inaugural season. The team won gold medals at the NY State Championship—the first crew team in State history to win gold medals in its inaugural season.
Legislator Wink said, “The success of the team is quite remarkable considering the team was formed only six months ago and the rowers started rowing on March 28, the day after the boats arrived. The team is an idea nurtured by Monika Dorman that was supported by the high school athletic department and community members. I am honored to recognize the team and the coaches for their hard work, team spirit, and determination that resulted in the spectacular achievement of winning gold at the NY State Interscholastic Championship Regatta.”
