Wink Announces Road Improvements for Roslyn

Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) announced today much-needed improvements would be coming to the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Roslyn Road and Warner Avenue and Roslyn Road.

“This area has been a traffic nightmare for years, and I’m pleased that the county is moving forward with this project,” Wink said. “This will be a meaningful and noticeable improvement in the quality of life of Roslyn residents, and all of the residents of the 11th District who travel to or through Roslyn.”

The project, scheduled to cost an estimated $1.4 million, will largely be funded by federal funds. Up to 80 percent of the cost will be reimbursed to the County. These two intersection improvements are part of a larger project aimed at alleviating the traffic patterns along Roslyn Road and in the vicinity of the Roslyn LIRR station. This comprehensive project will drastically improve the way these roads interact.

Lincoln Avenue will gain a right turn only lane for traffic turning south onto Roslyn Road. Additionally, the currently hazardous intersection of Railroad Avenue and Warner Avenue will be drastically overhauled to allow for clearer lane markings and a more easily identifiable traffic pattern, eliminating the dangerous one currently in existence. In another phase of the project, the intersection of Roslyn Rd. and Round Hill Rd, the intersection will be squared off, and the island separating traffic turning north onto Roslyn Rd will be removed.
