Nassau County Assessor Announced
Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) joined County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi and several members of the Nassau County Legislature to announce the appointment of Thaddeus (Ted) Jankowski as Nassau’s new assessor.
Nassau County residents supported a referendum this past November which changed the County Assessor from a political, elected position to a professional, appointed position. “Nassau County assesses over 420,000 properties per year. That volume, in conjunction with the drastic economic downturn we are seeing in the market, affirms that this position needs to be filled by an experienced, professional assessor who brings over 30 years of experience to the job,” said Wink. “I am confident that Mr. Jankowski has the experience and knowledge required to reform the system and restore the public’s confidence in the Department of Assessment.”
Mr. Jankowski’s appointment will require confirmation by the Nassau County Legislature. The appointment is expected to be considered by the Rules Committee on January 12th, and by the full Legislature at its January 26th meeting.
