Port Family Top Dog in Pet Safe Contest
Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) invited the prize-winning Mockler family (pets included) of Port Washington to
the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola to receive a special County citation. Kim Mockler submitted the winning
entry in Pet Safe Coalition’s first “Pet Safe Families” contest. The contest is designed to raise awareness and hope Nassau County
residents get their pets ready for the unexpected. Starting in June, the first month of hurricane season, the family with the best plan and
resources to keep pets safe in emergencies wins a prize. Kim Mockler and her family earned first prize bragging rights with their plan.
