Stannards Brook Park Restoration Moving Forward

Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) is pleased to announce that the restoration and improvement of Stannards Brook Park is moving ahead with the cooperation of Nassau County, New York State, the Port Washington Parks Conservancy, the Port Washington Water District and Port Washington Water Pollution Control District.

The upgrades, beginning next spring, will include the addition of educational signage, improvements to walkways, entrances, and modifications to the existing stream to prevent bank erosion. Work on the park’s wooded area will include removal of undergrowth to provide a safe open space for children to play, and the planting of a woodland garden.

“This project, which will take about a year to complete, will make Stannards Brook Park a much nicer place to visit for all residents,” Legislator Wink said. “I am pleased that I was able to coordinate the efforts of so many different groups and appreciate the exceptional efforts of the Port Washington Parks Conservancy. Soon Stannards will be not only a better place for our children to play, but also an even more beautiful park for all to enjoy.”

Funding for the revitalization of Stannards Brook Park was secured through the New York State Environmental Protection Fund and the Nassau County Environmental Bond Act.
