MASSAPEQUA PRESERVE UPDATE:

Bike Path is Complete!

As the completion of the Massapequa Creek Stream Augmentation and Pond Restoration Project nears, I am glad to inform you that the bicycle path has been newly repaved.  Please enjoy the Preserve safely.

Bike Safety Tips:

•  Wear reflective clothing and a helmet – bicyclists up to 13 years old are required to wear a helmet.  Passengers ages 1-4 must wear a helmet and be fastened in a suitable seat.  

•  Follow the Rules of the Road – Obey traffic regulations: stop at red lights, obey signs, and follow lane markings. 

•  Never ride against traffic.  Use hand signals.  Never wear headphones while cycling.

•  Share the Road with Vehicles and Pedestrians – Avoid weaving between vehicles. 

•  Always yield to pedestrians. Be careful at intersections. Use a horn or bell to alert others.

• Additional safety – Please use caution when biking near walkers, joggers and baby carriages.
