Legislator Schmitt Honors Eagle Scout
Nassau County Legislator and Minority Leader Peter J. Schmitt had the pleasure of attending Eagle Court of Honor held for Seaford resident, Matthew P. Johns, of Boy Scout Troop 239. On this evening, Matthew was elevated to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in scouting.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Matt created the “Dune Stabilization Project” at Robert Moses State Park which was a coordinated effort to transplant beach grasses to erosion-prone beach areas. Matt obtained financing and labor for the project through donations and volunteers.
Legislator Schmitt honored Matt with a Nassau County Legislative Citation of Honor. “I am so proud of the generous and selfless efforts that Matt has made to help others and the environment. He is a role model for all young men and women who want to make a difference in their community,” said Legislator Schmitt.
