Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale) made the rounds at the Veterans Services offices in Plainview recently. “Our veterans deserve nothing but the best medical care and health services. Each of our men and women in uniform who served our country has earned our respect and we must ensure they are well cared for once they return home,” said Legislator Mejias. “I am proud that we have guaranteed state of the art medical services by voting to approve the new Veterans Services Clinic at the Nassau University Medical Center. Our veterans will have the best medical and health care in an easily accessible, top-notch facility.”
Legislator Mejias was also given an update on the progress of the County's “Warriors to Work” program run by the department. “Warriors to Work” is a first public-private program aimed at providing employment opportunities for our nation's returning war veterans. It is expected to place hundreds of veterans in jobs upon their return from serving our nation in Iraq and Afghanistan and help them acclimate to civilian life at home.
