Legislator Mangano “Looks Good” for American Cancer Society
On February 11, 2007, Nassau County Legislator Edward P. Mangano lent his support to the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good…Feel Better” program by attending a raffle drawing held at “Freedom Hair Designers,” a beauty salon owned by Cathy Riccabene located at 465 Main Street in Farmingdale.
Through the Look Good…Feel Better program, beauty salons, such as Freedom Hair Designers, volunteer to teach female cancer patients beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self-image while they undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments. The women are given free beauty care instruction on makeup, skincare and nail care, and are also shown options related to hair loss, such as wigs and scarves.
“I applaud Cathy Riccabene for her tireless efforts to support the American Cancer Society and for providing those afflicted with cancer the support to make a difference it their lives and the lives of others” commented Legislator Mangano.
The Look Good…Feel Better program is offered through a collaborative effort between the American Cancer Society, the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association Foundation and the National Cosmetology Association and provides services for women and men, individuals and groups. For more information on the Look Good…Feel Better program, you may contact Freedom Hair Designers at 516-752-0240 or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-395-LOOK.
