Swimmers in the 20th annual American Red Cross in Nassau County “Swim-A-Cross” hit the water at Centre Island Beach on Aug. 8
to raise funds for the organization’s local chapter. Many Long Islanders are often surprised to learn that there is a Red Cross Chapter
in Nassau County. Over the past two years alone, the Nassau Red Cross has provided nearly $250,000 of direct aid to almost
1,500 Nassau County residents in the form of food, clothing and temporary shelter. The Swim-A-Cross fundraiser was and idea
nurtured 20 years ago by Justice Ute Lally and Joan Imhof. The two founders were honored at this year’s event. Pictured at
