Presiding Officer Yatauro Thanks Retiring Dreyer For His Commitment to Physically Challenged

Nassau County Presiding Officer Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) thanked Don Dreyer, the executive director of the Nassau County Office for the Physically Challenged who is retiring. She presented Dreyer with a county citation at a recent session of the legislature.

Dreyer has committed 32 years of his life to advocating for people with disabilities and their families. Although he has suffered from brittle bone disease since birth and remains in a wheelchair, Dreyer affected policy changes in healthcare, government and business that will safeguard the rights of physically challenged individuals for generations to come.

“Don Dreyer led the way for all of us to be better people,” Legislator Yatauro said. “He was relentless in his efforts, and successful in all that he did, someone that will definitely be hard to replace. Don definitely made a difference during his 32 years as head of the county’s Office For the Physically Challenged. I’d like to thank him for all that he did and wish him a happy retirement.”
