LI Cares MORE Van at Legislator Denenberg's Office
For the second time since its inception earlier this year, Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) arranged for the LI Cares MORE (Mobile Outreach Resource Enterprise) van to park outside his district office in Bellmore to supply food for those in need. The van is the mobile component of LI Cares Community Outreach and arrangements are already being made for the van’s third visit to Bellmore, very likely this fall.
Long Island Cares, Inc.-The Harry Chapin Food Bank is Long Island’s first food bank and one of the region's most comprehensive hunger action organizations. Founded in 1980 by the late singer, songwriter and social activist, Harry Chapin, they provide nutritional food and support services for a network of more than 540 community-based member agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, child care programs, disability organizations, veterans’ services and more. LI Cares distributes nearly 6 million pounds of nutritional food every year.
