Legislator Denenberg Launches National Boat Safety Week
Nobody’s Waterproof...Wear Your Life Jacket
Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) launched National Boat Safety Week on May 22, 2010 with the Hempstead Bay Power Squadron at Wantagh Park. Legislator Denenberg reminds boaters that everyone aboard must wear a life jacket. Boaters who drink and operate a vessel will be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law. In New York, boating while intoxicated carries the same penalties as driving while intoxicated. Legislator Denenberg urges safety first making for an enjoyable boating summer season. He is pictured with Mary Schroeder, Wantagh Park recreation supervisor; Pam Palmeri and Danielle Semich, park personnel; Randy Licht and Anne Wellander of the Hempstead Bay Power Squadron; Al Wellander, past district commander of the Hempstead Bay Power Squadron; Squadron Commander Betty Sicht; and Arthur Corigliano, park personnel.
