Legislator Denenberg Assists in Unveiling of
Major Raoul Lufbery Aerodrome at Cedar Creek
Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) supported recent legislation to change the name of the Cedar Creek Aerodrome as a tribute to World War I Flying Ace, Major Raoul Lufbery. The tribute was welcomed by the members of the model plane flying clubs located throughout Nassau County. Earlier this month, the Major Raoul Lufbery Aerodrome was unveiled during a well-attended ceremony. Legislator Denenberg is pictured with Doris Lufbery, the Major’s niece and Lisa Powers, the Major’s great niece. Also taking part in the ceremony were: Ray O’Connor and Joe Carco of the VFW; Josh Sorren, President of the Wantagh Preservation Society; Charles Lando, the Chairman of the Committee to honor Major Raoul Lufbery; Russell Rhine, Ernie Schack, Harvey Schwartz and Edward Smits of the Committee; and the members of the Hempstead Harbor Aeromodeler Society, Meroke RC Club, Nassau Flyers Club, the LI Cobras MAC and the Whitman Flyers.
