Leg. Denenberg Announces $5.7 million Capital Improvement to Wantagh Park Marina
Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) is pleased to announce a $5.7 million capital improvement project that will rehabilitate Nassau County’s Wantagh Park Marina has been approved and is about to commence. Wantagh Park is one of the county’s hidden gems. It’s one of the few public parks that have scenic views of the Western Bays as a backdrop to a wide variety of recreational activities.
Legislator Denenberg said, “Nassau County’s Wantagh Park Marina has the feel of a private yacht club and yet is affordable for all boating enthusiasts. The improvements will enhance and beautify the experience for boaters, park goers, site seers and passersby. In today’s economic times, it is important for the County to provide low-cost family recreational activities."
This capital project includes the reconstruction of the Wantagh Park Marina bulkhead, the installation of lighting, a pathway around the bulkhead, and the extension of the dock. Construction is scheduled to begin late this October/early November with a completion date expected around mid 2009. This aggressive time frame was put in place to minimize any interruptions to next year’s boating season.
