Legislator Denenberg Insists on Tighter Controls for Sex Offenders
Pushes Amendment For GPS Monitoring
Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) joined Bob O’Brien, an investigator from Parents For Megan’s Law, at a recent session of the Nassau County Legislature. Mr. O’Brien testified before the Public Safety Committee in favor of the proposed amendment requesting prompt passage. The amendment will give the Probation Department the power to request that the court direct Level 3 sex offenders on probation be monitored by GPS surveillance devices. Additionally, it would prohibit all registered sex offenders from living 2,000 feet from the victim's residence of workplace.
