Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) thanked Don Dreyer, the executive director of the Nassau County Office for the Physically Challenged who is retiring, at a recent session of the legislature presenting him with a county citation. Dreyer has committed 32 years of his life to advocating for people with disabilities and their families. Although he has suffered from brittle bone disease since birth and remains in a wheelchair, Dreyer affected policy changes in healthcare, government and business that will safeguard the rights of physically challenged individuals for generations to come.
“Don Dreyer is someone who always made a difference,” Legislator Denenberg said. “His accomplishments made life easier for the physically challenged, some of whom would not have been able to help themselves. I admire his tremendous dedication, will miss working with him, and wish him much happiness in his retirement.”
