Leg Denenberg Stands Up For Stand Down
Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick), third from left, attended the Veteran’s Day Stand Down where he spoke to, from left, Dawn Kennedy, Thomas F. P. Cooleen, Jack Beuth of Bellmore, DJ Cesarski and Al Brunetti.
Legislator Dave Denenberg attended Nassau County Veterans Service Agency’s Stand Down for homeless veterans at the New York State Armory in Freeport. The Stand Downs provide food, shelter, clothing, showers, hair cuts, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits, legal counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment for homeless veterans.
“The transition from soldier to civilian life can’t be easy,” Legislator Denenberg said. “It’s important for our community to assist those who so bravely serve our country. Stand-Downs offer job opportunities, benefits counseling, legal services, even hair cuts and health screenings for homeless veterans. This is an event that I always whole-heartedly support.”
