Community turns out for first in series of
Hewlett Traffic Study
Toback asks residents for input as process moves along
Nassau County Legislator Jeff Toback (D-Oceanside) joined with the Nassau County Department of Planning and Traffic Engineering last week to host a public meeting in Hewlett regarding proposed plans for the congestive traffic triangle of West Broadway and Broadway in Hewlett. More than 100 residents turned out for the presentation, which was followed with a question and answer period.
“Solving the traffic flow problems in this infamous intersection will be a challenge, and the County has contracted with Eschbacher Engineering to come up with a workable solution for our community and its merchants,” Toback said. “This was the first community meetings to gather input from residents and shop keepers, which will be followed by a study.”
Prior to the public meeting, Toback met with local merchants, mayors school district officials, 4th Precinct Police and the local fire department to brief them on the presentation.
Study schedule timetable will include:
February-first public meeting
March – June - Data collection and analysis
October - Public meeting number 2 and presentation of alternatives
November - final report
Legislator Toback urges residents and shopkeepers to stay involved in the input process by sending their input and comment cards to:
