Toback Cuts Ribbon on Elementary School Playground
Legislator Toback Provides $25,000 in Funds for New Playground
Nassau County Legislator Jeff Toback (D-Oceanside) today cut the ribbon on the new state-of-the-art playground at School #6 in the Lawrence School District, bringing a safe and fun-filled new place to play to the elementary school.
The new playground features curvy slides, bridges and a rock-climbing wall. The $40,000 cost of the project was partly paid for with $25,000 in Community Revitalization Project funds from Leg. Toback. Gabrielle Taveras, a former first-grader at the school, won $5,000 towards the project by winning Nickelodeon’s “Let’s Play” contest. The school district covered the remaining cost.
“This playground provides kids in the community with a brand new, safe place to have fun and play with their friends,” Toback said. “I am proud to be able to bring a project like this to my district and to continue my commitment to increasing the quality-of-life of every resident, young and old.”
