Toback Announces New Safety Measures for Jewish Organizations and Facilities
Nassau Police to Increase Patrols after Recent Middle East Events
Nassau County Legislator Jeff Toback (D-Oceanside) announced today that, in response to recent events in the Middle East, the FBI Anti-Terrorism Unit has issued warnings about an increased level of threat against Jewish organizations and facilities here at home. Leg. Toback has notified Jewish houses of worship in his district to assure them of heightened police patrols.
The Nassau County Police Department will intensively patrol all Jewish houses of worship and related facilities throughout the county. Inspector Paul Clark, Commanding Officer of the Fourth Precinct has ordered all police officers to “Park, Walk and Talk” at all such buildings as is done for the high holy days. Additional coverage will be provided by the Anti-Crime and Problem Oriented Policing teams and police further recommend that houses of worship implement similar security measures that are employed during the holidays, such as uniformed security, closed parking lots and heightened awareness of unusual persons.
“Please be assured that every precautionary effort is being taken to ensure the safety of our residents and Jewish houses of worship and organizations,” Toback said.
