Legislator Jeff Toback Presents County Honors to Myrna Zisman
Nassau County Legislator Jeff Toback (D-Oceanside) recently presented Myrna Zisman with the 2009 Nassau County Woman Trailblazer Award. Mrs. Zisman was recognized for her dedication to, and community involvement in, the Village of Cedarhurst and the Five Towns.
Myrna Zisman was born and raised in Brooklyn. She earned her degree from the NY School of Interior Design and went on to own and operate her own interior design company for more than 20 years.
Myrna began her community work as a NY State committee woman for the 41st Assembly District in Brooklyn. She was the co-founder of WINPAC, the Women’s Pro-Israel National Political Action Committee. She worked with Mayor Ed Koch and for Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s campaigns and was among ten New Yorkers selected to accompany Mayor Giuliani to Israel after the bus bombings.
Myrna’s commitment to public service led to her appointments to the Village of Cedarhurst Zoning Board of Appeals and Board of Trustees and her subsequent election to the Village Board as the first woman trustee in 100 years. Myrna has devoted her life to the preservation of Hebron, the first Hebrew City, and was recognized by the Hebron Fund as their 2008 Aishet Chayil honoree.
Myrna and her husband Leo are the proud parents and grandparents of three daughters, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and another one on the way. Congratulations to Myrna Zisman.
