Biography:
Jeff is serving his 5th term as Legislator for Nassau’s 7th Legislative District which is home to portions of the beautiful south shore estuary and the serene communities of Bay Park, Cedarhurst, Harbor Isle, Hewlett, Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck, Inwood, Lawrence, Mill Brook, Woodmere, North Woodmere, Woodsburgh, and parts of Oceanside, Island Park, East Rockaway and Lynbrook.
Jeff’s reputation as a civic activist was the catalyst for his decision to enter local politics in 1999. With a modest demeanor, Jeff puts his heart and soul into local projects and programs as a Little League coach, Rotary president and Chamber of Commerce member.
During his tenure in the Legislature, Jeff has forged positive working relationships with civic leaders and village officials who share his enthusiasm for improving their community. Jeff is a staunch believer that public safety should be government’s No. 1 function. In responding to the needs and challenges in his district, Jeff encourages an approach that embraces a collaborative partnership between County resources and local municipalities/organizations to ensure the public’s safety. With acute empathy for the quality of life issues that enri ch our communities, Jeff has sponsored and voted for numerous local laws to protect our County’s youth, supported legislation to preserve and protect our open spaces, and settled for nothing less than the highest standards of public health and safety. He continues to serve as a watchdog of taxpayer’s interests, a supporter of labor groups, and a strong advocate for affordable housing.
Legislator Toback, the Alternate Deputy Presiding Officer serves as chairperson of the legislature’s Judiciary and Procedures committees; vice-chair of Health & Social Services and Public Works, and is a member of the Public Safety, Labor, Rules, and Planning, Development and the Environment committees.
Jeff, a practicing self-employed attorney, resides in Oceanside with his wife Arlene and their three children, Rebecca, Melissa and Danny. Jeff is honored to have the privilege to serve the 7th Legislative District and encourages his constituents to voice their opinions and ideas on how to improve our community.
