Legislator Wayne Wink Announces Temporary
Schedule Changes to LIRR Port Washington Branch
Legislator Wayne Wink has been notified by the Long Island Railroad regarding important scheduling changes that may have an impact on commuters utilizing the Port Washington Branch. Commencing Monday, March 8th, off peak service will run hourly instead of the current timetable of every 30 minutes. This reduction in service is due to planned maintenance to replace track ties. “LIRR officials stress that the work will result in a smoother ride and better service for its customers,” Legislator Wink said, “This may affect commuters who work a staggered work schedule. Therefore, I recommend that residents contact the LIRR for a revised timetable.” The project, part of LIRR’s “State of Good Repair” program has a projected completion date of May 16th.
Good news for Mets fans. The LIRR will be expanding its midday service to provide additional trains to their Mets-Willets Point stop on the Port Washington Branch for Mets’ Opening Day, Monday, April 5th at Citifield.
