Legislator Mejias Helps Bag Hunger

On September 23, Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale) took on a different kind of day job. He went to Greenfield’s ShopRite of Morton Village, put on an apron and went to work bagging groceries to raise awareness regarding hunger in our community. Throughout the day, cashiers at ShopRite asked for donations for the ShopRite Partners in Caring Fund to help fill the shelves of local community food banks.

“In these tough economic times our local food banks need our help more than ever,” said Legislator Mejias. “I encourage all residents to give what they can to help families across Long Island put food on their table.

Now in its 10th year, the Partners in Caring Fund has donated more than $20 million to hunger relief agencies in the tri-state area.
