"Ho Ho Ho" 5K Benefit Run Takes Place at Old Bethpage Village December 15
Runners, walkers, wheelchair athletes and their families and friends from all over Long Island will participate on December 15 in the Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt LLP "Ho Ho Ho Holiday" 5K Run at Old Bethpage Village Restoration (OBVR).
Proceeds from the run, which begins at 9:30 a.m. and is organized by the Greater Long Island Running Club, will benefit the Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education; the Tender Loving Care Foundation, which aids premature infants; and the Friends of Nassau County Restoraton, which supports programs at OBVR.
The run will take place on the paths and roads of OBVR, a recreated 19th-century Long Island village that incorporates numerous historic homes. Entry fees are $20 through December 14 and $25 on December 15.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear appropriate holiday outfits, and special prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. In addition, there will be a children's "Fun Run" prior to the start of the 5K race. Participants may also bring a toy to the event to benefit needy local children.
Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums Commissioner Jose Lopez, a triathlete and fitness advocate, will be attending the race.
