As Spring-Like Weather Descends in January, County Opens Golf Courses
As the temperature on Monday, January 7, approached 60, and with the forecast calling for similar weather during the week, Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi announced that several of the County’s golf courses are open for play.
At Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, the 18-hole White and Blue courses are open (call 516-572-0327 or 0328 for information), along with the Eisenhower Park driving range, outfitted with 60 bays (572-0336). The Red course, home of the PGA Commerce Bank Championship, is closed for the season.
In addition, two of the County’s four nine-hole courses are open, at Cantiague Park in Hicksville (571-7061) and North Woodmere Park (571-7814). The 1,878-yard,par-30 Cantiague course is a flat, open and easy to walk, while the 2,282-yard, par-30 North Woodmere course is the largest of the County’s nine holes, with four holes over 300 yards.
The driving ranges at both courses are also open, with Cantiague having 35 bays (571-7082) and North Woodmere 22 bays (571-7814). All four of the golf courses and the three driving ranges will remain open in winter, as weather allows.
