Old Bethpage Village Offers “Salute to the American Fighting Soldier" on October 17 - 18
Old Bethpage Village Restoration is offering a “Salute to the American Fighting Soldier” on October 17 - 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi.
The event, which pays homage to American soldiers throughout the course of the nation’s history, will include a historical encampment dedicated to the American G.I.; demonstrations of the life and times of the common American soldier; and displays and camps spanning American military history.
Among the troops represented are the 3rd New York (Revolutionary War); 119th New York Infantry and Jackson’s Flying Artillery (Civil War); 71st New York Infantry (Spanish-American War); and the U.S. 3rd Infantry and 101st Airborne (World War II). In addition, there will be re-enactors from the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War and World War I, as well as active service personnel stationed on Long Island.
Old Bethpage Village Restoration provides visitors with a unique and wonderful opportunity to step back in time and experience life in a recreated mid-19th-century American village set on more than 200 acres. Hours are Wed. - Fri., 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; and Sat. - Sun., 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Entrance fees are $7 for children 5 - 12 (those under 5 are free), seniors and volunteer firefighters; and $10 for adults.
