The new Fair Housing Law, effective January 1, 2007, greatly improves the fair housing protections for all Nassau County residents who fall within any of the twelve protected classes. It also creates an enforcement system which allows victims of housing discrimination to file complaints and have their complaint investigated and prosecuted at the local level.
