HOMEMAKER/PERSONAL CARE AIDE SERVICES

For those unable to care for themselves because of illness, a homemaker/personal care aide can assist in personal care of the patient, preparation of meals and light housekeeping. Payment for such services depends on financial and medical eligibility.

NASSAU COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING

In-Home Services Program

Persons 60 years of age and over, who are above Medicaid eligibility, and who are unable to function independently in the home, may receive non-medical in-home services (homemaker/personal care, or housekeeper/chore.) Eligibility for these services is determined by Department-funded case managers during an assessment process which includes a financial assessment to determine the senior’s possible share of the cost of services. Participants can not be eligible to receive similar services through any other government sponsored program. For further information, call: (516) 227-8900
