Information and Assistance Fair – November 05, 2009

On Thursday, November 5, 2009, in cooperation with Legislator Judi Bosworth, the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs is coordinating a free Information and Assistance Fair. This program will be held at Clinton Martin Park, 1601 Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park.  Older persons, interested family members and caregivers will be able to speak to representatives from many different agencies that will be available to answer questions, provide information, and assist with the completion of any necessary applications for benefits or entitlement programs.

The Fair is part of the series of ongoing outreach programs scheduled for 2009 that is designed to provide a single point of entry for older citizens and their caregivers to health and human services assistance in a friendly community location.  Attendees will be able to learn about programs and services for Nassau County seniors, and additional resources available to veterans and individuals with disabilities.  Information about health promotion activities, and health insurance and financial counseling, will be available.  Agency representatives will answer legal questions and provide information on Social Security, housing, Medicare, Medicaid, and consumer issues.  Application assistance for Food Stamps, EPIC prescription drug coverage, HEAP, and other entitlement programs will be provided.  In addition, interested individuals can obtain information on exciting volunteer assignments and full or part time employment opportunities.

Call the Help-Line at 227-8900 for questions regarding the I&A Fair.  Free parking is available.
