Volunteer Programs
FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM
Income-eligible senior citizens 60 years and older serve as Foster Grandparents to children with special needs in schools, day care centers, group homes, recreation and tutorial programs. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, assistance with transportation and lunch. To apply, contact:

RSVP – RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Men and women, 55 years of age and over, can make a meaningful contribution by volunteering their services on a regular basis. Community agencies benefit and volunteers derive great personal satisfaction. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program – RSVP – recruits and arranges for training and placement in volunteer assignments in non-profit agencies throughout Nassau County. For information, contact:

The Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs administers an employment program which enables a limited number of economically disadvantaged persons, age 55 or older, to work 20 hours per week in public or private non-profit agencies. The Department offers a free employment service for Nassau County residents age 55 and over and to employers seeking qualified workers.
