Medical and Special Transportation

ABLE-RIDE/PARATRANSIT PROGRAM

This program is a curb-to-curb transportation service provided by the MTA Long Island Bus for those individuals who are unable to utilize the County's Mass Transit System due to physical, visual or cognitive disabilities. To become enrolled a person must be certified and meet eligibility criteria determined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Reservations and advance notice are required. There is a modest fee. MEDICAID-MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION

Medicaid recipients may be eligible for transportation for medical purposes, depending upon their physical condition. For further information, call:

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION TRANSPORTATION

Free transportation to shopping, social and non-Medicaid health services, recreation, and nutrition centers is available to low income elderly residents of Port Washington.

FISH (FRIENDS IN SERVICE TO HUMANITY)

Fish of Wantagh, Inc. utilizes volunteers to provide door–to-door transportation to residents of Wantagh, North Wantagh, Bellmore and North Bellmore. Priority is given to medical transportation needs. Partial funding is provided by the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs.

LONG BEACH

With funding from the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs, door-to-door medical transportation is available for seniors living in the Long Beach area.
