Landlord Portal

Thank you for participating in the Nassau County Housing Choice Voucher Program as a landlord.

For more information on becoming a landlord for the Housing Choice Voucher Program please refer to our Guidebook for Landlords

The success of the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program relies greatly on the participation and assistance of property managers, owners and landlords who have decent, safe, and sanitary rental units. The program is designed to be voluntary by property owners. Many low-income families in the community rely on property owners to make their units available for them to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. We welcome your participation, and greatly value your partnership.

It is the goal of the Nassau County Office of Housing to provide excellent service to the families and owners participating in the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. We will make every effort to inform both participants and owners of the program rules and the effect they have.

We want to hear from you! Please share your thoughts and comments on how we can improve the program. We invite you to complete this survey. Your feedback is pivotal to the success of the Program.

Property Listing

See how much your unit could rent for!  Nassau County offers higher payment standards in certain designated opportunity areas. See for more information.

You can list a property anywhere you list your properties. ANY property can be a Section 8 or Housing Choice Voucher property if it meets criteria like HUD reasonable rent and the Housing Quality Standards inspection.  You can find more information about the HQS inspection at

You do not need to be pre-approved to participate as a landlord in this program.  Once you find a tenant who has a voucher, you can submit the paperwork to our office.  In fact, under New York State Source of Income Discrimination law, effective April 2019, almost all landlords must take Section 8/Housing Choice Vouchers.

The only exceptions are:

  • One- or two-family homes occupied by the owner
  • Certain room rentals; and
  • Housing intended for seniors.
