Zika Virus Information - New York State Department of Health

Zika is a flavivirus related to dengue, West Nile, yellow fever and Japanese encephalitis. It was first isolated in 1947 from a Rhesus monkey in the Zika region of Uganda and in 1968 from a human in Nigeria.
