The Veterans Summer Stand Down is a Drive-Thru event only at the Freeport Armory. Veterans arriving in cars will be directed to a drive-thru entrance & will receive their veterans supplies. The supplies will consist of new sneakers, non-perishable foods, toiletry items, socks, shirts & cleaning supplies.
Any veteran who does not have a car, may secure their place in-line at the front door of the armory building. Those veterans will receive their supplies through the front of the building. At no point will any veterans enter the Freeport Armory; due to COVID-19.
Veterans will be asked provide proof of eligibility by presenting any of the listed forms of ID: VA ID Card, DD-214 Discharge Form, Nassau County Veterans ID, NY State Driver’s License with Veteran Classification or Military ID.
NOTE TO VOLUNTEERS - All personnel wishing to VOLUNTEER at the event must call the VSA at (516) 572-6565 & register their name. All volunteers must be listed prior to the event.
