[ARCHIVED] MANGANO: DAVI RETURNS TO EISENHOWER PARK

East Meadow, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano is pleased to welcome back renowned actor/singer, and Long Island native, Robert Davi, to Eisenhower Park’s Lakeside Theatre, this Saturday, August 8th, where Davi will perform a musical tribute to the legendary Frank Sinatra, in honor of Sinatra’s 100th anniversary. Davi’s “Centennial Tribute to the Greatest Entertainer in the World,” will begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. Three time Emmy Award winning TV host and headlining comedian, Dave Konig, will open for Davi at the Sinatra Tribute in Eisenhower Park.

Davi is just off a global concert tour that took him through Sweden, Hungary, Australia, and Italy, where he appeared on the Italian version of the Voice. Last month, Davi was chosen by Capitol Concerts to perform Sinatra at its July 4th PBS Special – a 100th anniversary tribute to the late entertainer - in front of a crowd of about 500,000 people, and to a viewing audience of 15 million. Davi also performed last month for the United Nations General Assembly and was asked by the UN to perform in Macau, China on August 24th, and at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on September 26th, to mark the organization’s 70th anniversary.

One of the most recognized “tough guys” in cinema and television today, Davi is considered one of the top Bond villains of all time for his portrayal of Fran Sanchez in “License to Kill.” Over the past 30 years, this Long Island native has developed a “cult” following, and has starred in over 130 films, such as “Die Hard,” “The Goonies,” “Showgirls,” “Predator 2” and “The Iceman.” No stranger to the small screen, in 1996-2001, Davi has also starred in NBC’s hit crime drama “Profiler,” which set the trend for crime dramas today. He has starred in such award winning shows, including “CSI,” “Criminal Minds,” Stargate Atlantis, “Hill Street Blues,” “Gangster Chronicles,” and countless others.

However, it is his love of music and singing that brings Davi back to Long Island to perform at Eisenhower Park’s Lakeside Theatre for the third year in a row. His debut album, “Davi Sings Sinatra—On The Road to Romance,” produced by Phil Ramone shot to number 6 for several weeks on Billboard’s Jazz Charts.

Much of the programming at the Lakeside Theatre is made possible through the Nassau County Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant, which are proceeds from taxes on hotel and motel rooms in Nassau County. Since 2006, Nassau County has received more than ten million dollars from the Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant, which also has assisted in historic building restoration and other cultural enhancements.

The Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre is located near parking fields 6 and 6A in Eisenhower Park. Lakeside Theatre is a venue with no formal seating. Concertgoers are urged to bring folding chairs or blankets. Special accommodations are available for disabled patrons, including reserved parking, easily accessible restrooms and a convenient reserved location on the hill. Assistive hearing devices are also available upon request for the hearing impaired.
