[ARCHIVED] MANGANO, CURRAN & CURRAN TO HOST COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP DAY AT MILBURN LAKE PARK IN BALDWIN

Baldwin, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, State Assemblyman Brian Curran and County Legislator Laura Curran today announced a Community Clean-Up Day will take place at Milburn Lake Park in Baldwin on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Volunteers should meet at Milburn Pond Park on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Boulevard.

“There is no better example of neighborhood pride than when residents volunteer their time to beautify our County,” said County Executive Mangano. “Working together, Nassau County volunteers will beautify the park.”

“Continuing the tradition of celebrating Earth Day, I am honored to partner with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Legislator Laura Curran for our annual park clean-ups. Keeping our Baldwin parks beautiful and preserved benefits the entire community. Our parks are one of our most important natural resources and are truly the corner stone of any community, we must protect them and keep them thriving,” said Assemblyman Brian Curran.

“Milburn Pond is a gem in our community, and I encourage everyone to help clean it up and make it shine,” said Legislator Laura Curran. “It’s a fun way to help keep Baldwin beautiful.”

About Milburn Lake Park
The 8-acre Milburn Pond Park, located on West Merrick Road and South Brookside Avenue, provides a pretty setting for a half-mile stroll around the pond or for relaxing on the numerous benches. Across West Merrick Road from Milburn Pond Park, the adjoining Milburn Creek Park is a narrow 24-acre park split by Milburn Creek, which incorporates a mix of salt water from Freeport Bay to the south and fresh water from the north. Milburn Creek Park includes a half-mile walking or jogging trail and a boat launch, accessible via the Atlantic Avenue entrance.
