About Nickerson Beach

Nickerson Beach Park is a 155 acre sun-drenched recreational facility, located along the Atlantic Ocean on Long Island’s South Shore. The beach, approximately one mile long, includes areas that are cordoned off to protect nesting areas for the Piping Plover, a sparrow-sized shorebird that is protected by federal law. The facility has two pools at either end of the park, along with small “kiddie” pools, new beach showers and cabanas that are awarded via a lottery system. The “Fun Zone” includes two new basketball courts, a skate park and a playground. There is an additional basketball court by the cabana area, two tennis courts and a new baseball field. There are also two soccer fields and six Beach Volleyball courts. The park also offers all-terrain wheelchairs for the disabled. Other attractions are the campgrounds with 74 Recreational Vehicle sites and a dog run with separate areas for big and small dogs.
