(OCEANSIDE, N.Y.) - In recognition of March as Women’s History Month, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) honored Jackie Brown, owner of Emile's Candies in Oceanside.
Emile’s Candies has been in business since 1953 and is a true staple of the Oceanside community. Jackie is a Baldwin resident who grew up going to Emile’s Candies as a child. She had such fond memories of this iconic shop that, when the opportunity presented itself in 2017, she purchased it from Emile’s family.
“Like so many business owners, Emile’s had to overhaul their business model during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rising to the challenge, she and her staff created an online ordering portal and even launched a local delivery service for residents in the area,” Legislator Mulé said. “Thanks to Jackie’s ingenuity and determination, Emile’s made it through and is once again open for shoppers to come in and purchase their signature sweets in person. As Women’s History Month continues, I’m delighted to honor Jackie Brown and celebrate her commitment to this cherished Oceanside institution!”
