Dear Resident,
Earlier this week I joined with my fellow legislators and NICE Bus CEO, Jack Khzouz, to announce the planned purchase of six new electric buses for NICE’s fleet. Later that same day I was part of a unanimous vote approving the purchase.
Not only will these zero-emission buses, improve air-quality, but it is estimated that each electric bus will save up to $125,000 in maintenance and up to $400,000 in fuel savings over their 12-year lifespan. With gas prices surging nationwide and increased environmental concerns being raised, these eco-friendly buses are the smart way to ease our carbon footprint and gas use here in Nassau County. The buses are expected to be rolled out in the Fall and will be the first of their kind in service on Long Island.
