Minority Leader Abrahams Applauds Vote to Elevate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to U.S. Supreme Court

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Earlier today, the United States Senate voted 53-47 to approve Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, making her the first Black woman to be appointed to the nation’s highest court. Following the vote, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) issued the following statement:

“By shattering the glass ceiling at our nation’s highest court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has shown the next generation of America’s leaders - some of whom are studying in the classrooms of the First Legislative District as we speak - that anything is possible,” Minority Leader Abrahams said. “April 7, 2022 is a date that will shine as a beacon of hope and progress in the history of our nation, and I pray that today’s vote will be a catalyst for breaking down even more barriers in the pursuit of a more perfect union.”
