WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) is joining forces with an array of community partners to carry the spirit of the “Holiday of Giving” into the New Year by hosting a free movie day for First Legislative District families at the Bellmore Playhouse on Saturday, Jan. 28. The event is open to residents of ZIP codes 11510, 11520, 11550, 11553, 11554, and 11575.
Legislator Abrahams’ event is co-sponsored by the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association and Glory House Recovery, Inc. and presented with the support of community partners Affinity by Molina Healthcare and Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. Cadets from the Uniondale Jr. ROTC will be on hand as well to greet guests and provide event-day assistance.
“Who says that the season of giving and spreading cheer has to end in December?” Legislator Abrahams said. “Thanks to the generosity of our event partners, we are delighted to invite our community to this free family movie night - something that we hope will become a cherished new tradition. Tickets are going fast – I encourage you to register today to secure your seat!”
Pre-registration is required to attend this limited-seat event. Every child must be accompanied by an adult, and adults must have the child present to enter. Families will be asked to decide the movie that will be shown either by voting for “Matilda – The Musical” or “The Amazing Maurice” when they register online (while seats last) at www.nassaucountyny.gov/LD1.
In addition to a movie, free popcorn and soda, there will be free giveaways provided by sponsors as part of the festivities. Guests will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a new bicycle!
