WHAT: Expand and refresh your gardening skills for a new season during “Composting and Gardening – The Basics,” a Saturday, April 15 event presented at the Baldwin Community Garden by Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport), the Baldwin Civic Association, and the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County.
During this free workshop, Cornell Cooperative experts will teach attendees how to prepare their gardens for a new growing season and share basics about backyard composting, a process which converts leftover food scraps, unwaxed paper goods, coffee grinds, and much more into compost that can be used to enrich garden soil with valuable nutrients.
“Many people are curious about composting but don’t know where to start. That’s why I am happy to be joining forces with Cornell Cooperative and the Baldwin Civic Association to host a free workshop that will help everyone prepare for a new gardening season,” Legislator Mulé said. “I hope you’ll join us at the Baldwin Community Garden to learn important skills that will protect the environment, save you money and make your garden more beautiful all season long!”
