WHAT - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) will join with the friends and loved ones of former Legislator Joe Scannell, her colleagues in government, and community leaders for a street renaming and tree dedication ceremony to honor his legacy on Saturday, May 6 at Silver Lake Park in Baldwin. Legislator Mulé will also announce a portion of Foxhurst Road between Merrick Road and Overlook Place as “Joe Scannell Way” – an honor bestowed in recognition of decades of public service and advocacy.
Joe Scannell dedicated most of his life to public service and advocacy to ensure Nassau County was a better place to live and raise a family. As a legislator Joe, advocated to preserve Nunley’s Carousel and was a fierce advocate for public safety, first responders, and his beloved community of Baldwin.
