WHAT - For the first time since 2019, Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) and community partners Heeling Soles, Inc.; Glory House Recovery, Inc.; and Charmaine Robin of State Farm Uniondale proudly announce the return of the ninth annual ComeInUnity Family Fun Day and Health Fair at Uniondale Park on Saturday, June 10 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Before going on hiatus in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, ComeInUnity was held each year to build community pride and inspire attendees by sharing love and joy through laughter, singing, dancing, and playing. It’s also a day for Uniondale residents to give back to the historic community that they cherish.
“I know that many people in and around Uniondale have eagerly awaited the return of the ComeInUnity Family Fun Day – and we are all so excited to announce that the wait is over!” Legislator Abrahams said. “I am thrilled to be working with Heeling Soles, Glory House Recovery and Charmaine Robin at State Farm Uniondale and an array of local businesses, community organizations and health professionals to make this year’s event the most informative and enjoyable one we’ve ever hosted for Uniondale families.”
A highlight of the day’s festivities will be a special performance by Uniondale High School’s award-winning “Rhythm of the Knight” show choir. The Uniondale Fire District will also be on hand to display its trucks. Additional attractions include a DJ, clowns, face painters, bouncy houses, games, prizes, vendors, free giveaways, prizes, and other fun surprises. In addition, there will be free haircuts provided by Freeport-based Trimz Barber Shop; hamburgers, hot dogs, ice pops and more.
In addition to the fun and games, vital resources such as employment opportunities, continuing education information, healthcare insurance alternatives, health screenings, financial literacy information, gang prevention and intervention services and voter registration resources will also be available for visitors.
COMEINUNITY SPONSORS include Glory House Recovery, Inc.; Trimz Barber Shop; Charmaine Robin (State Farm, Uniondale); the Uniondale Fire District; NCPD Explorers & Uniondale ROTC cadets and the Town of Hempstead. Additional contributions are being provided by LaLa’s Loveables Childcare; Judge Tricia Ferrell; NY Inflatables, the Uniondale School District, Fancy Frenz; and many other community partners.
