East Meadow, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has announced that Long Island Philharmonic will perform at Eisenhower Park’s Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre on Monday, August 10th. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.

The Long Island Philharmonic was founded in 1979 by folk singer Harry Chapin in collaboration with Maestro Christopher Keene and several area business leaders. Since then, the orchestra has provided cultural and educational benefits of the highest level to the residents of Long Island and the surrounding boroughs. Considered young by American orchestra standards, the Philharmonic, led by its four music directors, has made significant strides in expanding its programs and offering a musical product of the highest caliber. Their purpose includes introducing and educating children to understand, appreciate and enjoy orchestral music as well as providing stimulation and adult music education.

Much of the programming at the Lakeside Theatre is made possible through the Nassau County Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant, which are proceeds from taxes on hotel and motel rooms in Nassau County. Since 2006, Nassau County has received more than ten million dollars from the Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant, which also has assisted in historic building restoration and other cultural enhancements.
